Book of Mormon Lands: USA or Elsewhere?

This unique 2 day conference helps attendees discover physical evidences found in North America that correlate with the time period of the Book of Mormon as well as scriptures and statements of prophets expertly presented to you by both LDS and Non LDS scholars.

Make plans to attend now.

The last day of the conference is April 1? April Fools Day?

I wonder.

This "conference" is sponsored by the LDS travel agents association, the same group that runs Book of Mormon ruins tours.

It ends on April fools day? Well here is a joke -

Seating runs from $35 to $130. At the top of the advertisement is an image of a man in a headdress. Nothing like using a stereotype native symbol for monetary gain.

Graham Greene talked about that:

C'mon. I do not believe for one second that any legitimate scholar will be debating where BoM events happened.
It's as likely as non Simpsons fans debating which state Springfield is in.

You can bet the price of admission that the "Newark Holy Stones" will be discussed (since they're included in the "Lost Civilizations" video).

>The principal Newark "Holy Stones," when considered in their historic context, may deserve the sobriquet "Holy," but they were hastily conceived and rather sloppily executed scientific forgeries. It is surprising, but revealing, that they were taken so seriously by so many in the 19th century. It is even more surprising, and correspondingly more revealing, that some today still take them seriously as supposed relics of an ancient Israelite presence in Ohio.

Not to steal your thunder there; threads really get buried in a hurry these days, so recycling stuff is a necessity...

These folks are unbelievable liars...

And some genuinely legitimate archaeologists are really outraged at being included in "defenses" of what is strictly laughing stock stuff from over the edges of the fringe...

Thanks to RFM contributors Phyllis and nalicea for the original links that permitted me to post the following...

And here's one I just discovered that demonstrates the unmitigated gall of these folks. Lepper and others have overwhelming evidence these "artifacts" are 19th century creations, and yet this writer disingenuosly promotes the hype...

>What are the “Holy Stones?” Are they evidence of pre-Columbian visitations by ancient Hebrews? If they are clever frauds, what were the perpetrators’ motives? You will enjoy seeing these objects of contention and parting [sic] in the discussion.

Hmmm, was that letter supposed to be an "f" or was the original word "participating."

Apologists will stop at nothing to push forward their outrageous claims. Misinterpretation, pseudoscience and outright lies are their mainstay.

"Many LDS ask the question "What does it matter where the Book of Mormon took place as long as we know the message of the book is true?"

As a mormon..you know it's true because WE tell you it's true....

Isn't that the going mantra??

So....why do they have the need to prove this is true when all other things "will be sorted out in the afterlife".

Mormons can't have it both ways......
