Once you've been in the morg long enough you see some things that make you go "Hmmmmm..." Here are a few of my best:
1. When I was a convert, we hung out with a young family of BIC's. The husband was a regional cemetary (seminary for the uninitiated) director for the church. I found out years later that he had been jails for schtupping a couple of teen girls.
2. Remember those gushy "all is well in Zion" Christmas letters you got from other members that stated "Jessica is head cheerleader, Honor Society and going to Princeton in the fall" and "Jared is co-captain of the football team, gets all A's, finished his eagle scout in 16 days..."? I remember one family like that and, in the end, "Jared" tried to blow his own head off with a .357 magnum, and the wife ran away to Chicago with an old High School flame.
3. Couple of BICs (husband and wife) that lived next to us while at the Zoo ended up in a divorce. He confessed to the Bishop that he was addicted to kiddie porn. Bishop told no one, excommunicated the guy and he was later arrested in a kiddie porn ring sting.
4. When I was leaving the church, one of the high priests in our ward asked me to go on a "retreat" with him. He tried and tried to persuade me to reconsider. Two years later, he left his wife and 7 (yep, count 'em, 7) kids for greener pastures outside the church.
5. Former stake president who I still like to this day had his wife just up and leave him. Kids were all grown, she disappeared for two years and was found in California in a rehab facility.
6. A guy I was in the military with who converted at the same time I did married a military convert, had two daughters, and she left him and became a crack ho. Honest up, she was on crack and turning tricks.
7. Another friend of mine married a BIC gal only to find out she didn't have the proper plumbing to produce children or have sex. Would have been nice if someone had told my buddy beforehand, don't you think?
Just a few I can think of now.
