Anyone here convert to appease boyfriend/girlfriend's family? I converted to Judaism for a boyfriend. I was convinced he would propose if I went through with the conversion. Didn't happen. Looking back, I convinced myself I wasn't doing it for him. Of course, I wanted to marry him and this was the only way. There seem to be many similarities between Mormon and Jewish families on this topic. Thankfully, I ended up with a wonderful ex-mo husband.

My husband did.... then we both got out... the first part is both of our biggest regrets.

I fell in love with a girl AND her family...they were incredibly atypical Mormons, which I didn't discover until it was too late. It was the ultimate Bait and Switch. It sent me off on a horrific detour in my life and I lost myself for a couple of decades.

My dad converted for my mom, which definitely didn't work out for either of them.

What I learned from them is that anyone who would want me to change who I am in order to be with them, can go f*** themselves. That's not love. That's love of an idea.
