I have been talking to a close friend who is also exmo (I helped her draft her exit letter). She keeps calling the BoM musical "hateful," "attacking," and "mean."

I don't expect that level of South Park-style satire to be palatable to everyone, but this friend just won't see that those words DO NOT describe Stone's and Parker's humor.

Satire is essential if we are to face some of our society's worst demons. When we make light of something, we are often able to confront truths about it that we are unwilling to take on in sober, serious debate (e.g. represssed homosexuality among mormon in "Turn it off"). When we laugh, we are able to deal with pain together, in a way that makes us all more human.

That is just my opinion. What I don't understand is how an intelligent person could see the messages of the BoM musical as an "attack."
