I shared that petition for financial transparancy with my mormon friends. I believed they would want to be able to look up where their hard earned tithe money goes, boy was I in for a surprise. I had forgotten that mormons cannot reason properly. Especially not "liberal" mormons whose heads are too full of mental gymnastics to allow any real thinking (the fundies atleast are consistent in their beliefs).

My mormon friends "already know" where the money goes or make up excuses for the fact that they simply do not want to know just in case it would reflect poorly on their leaders. They want to appear so mainstream and yet the fact that the secrecy itself literally screams "CULT" seems to be beyond their grasp. Even when it comes to money they prefer to be deluded.

The church thrives on a "don't ask, don't tell" policy.

I sometimes think it's a policy of we're not going to tell you so don't ask.

The reversal of the power structure.

Yep! If something about the leaders makes you feel bad, you may have just taken a step toward Apostasy and you must repent or perish.
