About a week ago ,a friend of mine made a comment about the church having 14 million members, and how that many people can't be wrong.

I asked him how many of those actually attended meetings and his face went pale(he is a ward membership clerk).

I asked him what was the matter and he wouldn't say anything.

Then I said " that many people can't be wrong"

He hasn't spoke to me since and he wasn't at church on Sunday,so the wifey tells me.

I had already heard in a HP groups meeting that our ward had over 500 baptized members and that regular sacrament meeting attendance was around 180.(this was about 4 years ago,)This is another story I will share some time. I was already exed at the time and had sent in a resignation about a year before.

How blind do you have to be to point at numbers as evidence of truth when your religion is miniscule! I probably would have asked if that same logic goes for the Hindus.

And women weren't allowed to vote, how could all the men be wrong.

And all the men and women weren't allowed to vote, how could all the rich people be wrong.

Why do we speak English (well, some of us).... surely the Chinese cannot be wrong.

Being in a large group or a majority is never proof that you are right. Seems to me that Mormons proclaim their savior's greatness (JC or JS ?) and brag about how everyone else was against them. But wouldn't those other people be automatically right, because there were more of them...

180 out of 500 is 36%
I would question if the overall churchwide attendance is that large

I sure wish I'd had that in mind in times past.

It's funny how Bishops will hold combined Preisthood / Relief Society meetings and go on about how we need to reactivate our membership, or lament how people are being baptized into inactivity, and they gave lectures over the pulpit about reaching out to less-actives but then they turn around and thump their chests about how fast the church is growing.
