Well here goes - I'm going to do an Alma 32 and try an experiment. My temple "new name" is Mormon. First time I've ever told this to anyone, and now it's out there for all you RFMers to hear.

Now let's see what happens to me over the next 24 hours, cause some really bad shit is bound to be in my future. I'll keep you informed ...

I remember when I told someone my new name. I had kept it secret through four years of being out of the church and finally realized it was just another layer of control. So I told my husband.

That same day, in 1999, I did a search on "Mormon and Masonic temples" and found this site and several others.

It takes awhile for all of the layers to come off. In that way, mormonism is like an ogre (see Shrek)!

Mine is Miriam or something weird like that, I've yet to find anyone with the same name.

Since I can't remember for sure and the only other person I've told is my dh on our wedding day, I made up jessica, I like it better.

Mine was Esther. I was so incredibly disappointed when I got that name. I always thought it was supposed to be the name you had before coming to earth, and that the temple worker was inspired to know and tell you what it was. I couldn't believe that my beautiful, eternal name was Esther. Then when I found out it was the general name gave to everyone that day, and that it was rotated according to the calendar, I was so livid.
