I'm not a big fan of her writing, but I appreciate her honesty and can relate to her views about religion.

reads/studies her Bible everyday, just doesn't attend services or identify with any one denomination.

Nondenominational unchurched Christian. Me too.

Interesting about her son being gay and the Prop 8 thing. Guess that issue has members of other denominations angry as well.

A couple of quotes from Anne Rice (from her talk in the video to which Elder George Carlin linked):

"Twelve years ago I thought I'd gone back to God. Now I realize I was in bed with the Devil. Of course, I'm speaking metaphorically."

"I discovered that I was part of an organization that did things that I thought were immoral."

Anne Rice doesn't like the Catholic Church and the LDS Church (she says, "mormon") spending their money and time on anti-gay campaigns.

She also mentions that religious organizations have an immoral attitude toward abortion, even to the point of letting mothers die instead of performing an abortion.

However, she also notes that she reads the bible daily, that she still prays to God, etc.

She just got fed up with organized religions and their evil ways.

Anyway, she's catching huge amounts of flak for dissing religion.

How has she given up on Xtianity if she still reads its main propaganda tome?

Sounds to me more like she's only given up on the organized variety. But the book still contains all the immoral crap she disdains - slavery, murder, genocide...
