about a guy who went on a mission to Tonga in the 1950s. Ann Hathaway is in it, as the girlfriend who's waiting for him ... or so I gathered from the few minutes I watched. It's called The Other Side of Heaven.

Why do you suppose it's on--because of Ann Hathaway, or because of the musical?

I saw that when I was still in. I read the book on the mission. It's a "true" story. I think the main guy was a GA. I really liked the book and movie at the time.

I think even my never mo sister saw it and kinda liked it.

It's a story that isn't too campy. It shows someone having integrity.
So often we're encouraged to compromise our values.

Maybe that's why I like Legally Blonde, because the girl is asked to rat out the clients alibi and chooses not to.

In The Other Side of Heaven the man explains why he is faithful to his girl friend.
Later after a hurricane wipes out the food supply on the island, the old preacher gives the young man a jar of jam to help him live. Why? Because he knows this man tries to serve God, not himself or his church, but God. He has a future of helping a lot of people because of his capacity and willingness to love others before Church and self.

I too noticed that his ministry seemed often interrupted by church. I liked that the movie is more about him than a salespitch for the mormons.

Over all, it is very enjoyable.
