Isn't he just a purist and actualiving led like Joseph Smith? I think the church has thrown him under the bus because old mormon beliefs aren't accepted.

Enlighten me, please.

Anybody? Yay or nay?

The book, "Under the Banner of Heavn", implies that Warren Jeff's really adhered to the original scripture and was tolerated in Utah until stuff hit te fan.

I'd just like some confirmation either way.

No, the Book of Mormon condemns polygamy. He is following Smith's "revelation" found in the Doctrine & Covenants.

Warren's downfall was becomming to extreme and becomming so public as to embarrass the mainstream mormons.

There are 100s of groups totally more than 100,000 polygamists in Utah. The mormon church doesn't say a word unless they become obious and vocal.

That's like the entire city of Provo, Utah being polygamist. The Mormon church belly aches enough about porn. Imagine if they put that same amount of energy into stopping something that actually hurts people like these closed polygamist groups. It only seems right seeing as how they started it.

This us what I thought. I remembered his disdain for blacks. And this falls in line with Steve Benson's postings about his grandfather.

Did anyone see the June 23 "Rolling Stone" that had a story about the Kingston clan, also known as "the Order"? This is a particularly creepy polygamist group residing in and around Salt Lake City. The patriarch has more than 300 children and many have birth defects from intermarriage. The group is also very violent. Kingston created his own planet right here on this one. Living out the Mormon dream has some exceptionally ugly consequences. Unfortunately, true believers will never see it that way.

for running away from the abusive older uncle she was forced to marry.

The father took her into a barn and proceeded to beat her with is folded belt, ten blows for each time she'd run away from sex with the perverted uncle. The girl lost consciousness and the father continued counting out blows. She finally woke and crawled out of the barn in the middle of the night and staggered miles to a phone.

The county had to take her in and find foste care because of the obvious injuries. Ordinarily, the take underage polygamist girls back to their abusers in Utah. The DA had to prosecute for the same reason. The morg was humiliated by the bad publicity.

The judge asked the father to name his wives and children and he could only remember some of their names. Typical of many polygamist men.

And mormons have the nerve to be disgusted when you bring up their cult's history with polygamy. All the polygamists are doing is following Smith's lead.

Here's a link y'all. http://www.rollingstone.com/culture/news/inside-the-order-one-mormon-cults-secret-empire-20110615

Long read, but you exmos have the time. It's not like you're at the temple all day.

The Mormons are right. They have less and less to do with these followers of Joseph Smith and Brigham Young. They discard their inconvenient teachings by just ignoring them and pretending ignorance when they are asked about them.

People leaving the church are prime candidates for fundamental Mormon missionaries. They are told, in essence, "the problem is you are in an apostate Mormon church, we have the real one. You just weren't Mormon enough....here we truly follow the prophet Joseph Smith..."

And you can't argue with that--they are absolutely telling the truth and it's easy to see that the mainstream Mormon church is lying.

This is why it is so important that we regularly point out to people the lies that Joseph Smith perpetrated, the betrayals of his friends, his licentiousness, the arrogance and pretense to godly power, which was carried on by a greedy Brigham Young. Young actually thought he inherited any women who were Joseph's wives (read property). People leaving Mormonism need to be careful not to be sucked deeper down the drain by the idea that there was anything holy or even admirable about these Mormon founders.

Wide streets do not compensate for the many crimes against humanity perpetrated by Joseph Smith and Brigham Young.

I thought so. My mormon friend, who doesn't have a mean bone in his body, told me that Warren Jeffs deserves to die for the crimes he committed. This reaction was WAY overboard and made me suspicious of why this normally gentle guy was so eager to see Jeffs' demise.

All Jeffs did was follow the life of Smith. I'd argue that if I was his lawyer - freedom of religion.

The mainstream mormon god is just like music on the radio - does whatever is "hot" to stay relevant.

Yes, there is freedom of religion, however, Jeff's arranged marriages for older members of the group with girls that were underage. This is considered a sex crime, because obviously sex was involved. Jeff's himself may have married girls that were underage, so he is guilty first hand of the sex crime. Rather sex crimes against children. They will be branded sexual predators. Rightfully so.

Yes, there are or will eventually be a lot of birth defects among these polygamist groups, due to intermarriage over and over again. There are few "new recruits" so who are they going to marry but their own daughters, sisters, cousins, aunts...well you get the idea.

And Yes, technically, they are practicing the true first edition doctrine of Mormonism. Kinda makes ya sick to think about doesn't it?

Makes me real sick. Especially considering how quick they are to throw polygamists under the bus while tolerating them privately.

I didn't say I supported Jeffs, hardly. I said what strategy I'd use if I was his lawyer.
