What has changed in Mormonism SINCE the Tanners published "The Changing World of Mormonism" in 1979?

The Tanners were criticized by faithful LDS for their work, but the LDS Church keeps changing in order to survive. I can think of the temple endowment (1990) and the DNA issue which caused the apologists to throw Bruce R. McConkie under the bus for using "principal ancestors" to describe the relationship between the fictional Nephites and the Native Americans.

What else has changed since 1979?

Lots and lots. 3 hour blocks in 1980. I don't think women were allowed to pray in sacrament meeting until the 1980's. Women in ward counsel. Less emphasis on docrine regarding attainment of Godhood. Consolidation of real-estate holdings in SLC.

Women didn't attend ward council? So, in which 'leadership' meetings were women allowed to participate? Not that it really matters, men make all the decisions.

The introduction to the Book of Mormon, Lamanites are now AMONG the ancestors of the American Indians, no longer the PRINCIPAL ancestors.
