Ok, not really, but he quoted from the movie, The Lion King.

This week, BYU's weekly devotional speaker was Monson. He encouraged students to share their faith wherever they go. And advised students to reach their potential in life. He quoted the Lion King movie saying, "Look inside yourself Simba, you are more than what you have become. Remember who you are."

He also spoke about a decline of faith and religion in society.

One BYU student was quoted as saying, "We got the perfect seat, it was totally worth it. He's such an inspiring man."

(The source of this story was Provo's newspaper, The Daily Herald.)

I still think Monson is a step up from Hinckley
....of course, who would not be!

I sure do Miss Gordon, a person could start counting and never make it to ten before Gordon would tell another lie or say some insanely stupid thing.

Why is it that TSM seems to frequently use non-scriptural stories from famous books, and now children's films, in his talks? I guess in his mind Mufasa saying this to Simba is equivalent to Lehi saying it to Nephi. Is the BoM no more than inspired fiction to him?

I'm glad that the Walt Disney Corp. has stepped in to fill the revelation void. The cult of Mufasa is true. He lives my everliving head.

The prophet has spoken and the debate is over. Get your Rafiki magic stick at Deserted Books while supplies last.

A so-called prophet of god now has to resort to quoting from a Disney movie for inspiration?

Did Christ cancel the weekly Friday morning visits with him and the "apostles" in the temple?

LMAO

Oh, please...

My dad was doing that schtick for his students back when the movie came out. Talk about a late pop culture memo for the prophet.

Do they get a check every time they quote a Disney movie? Maybe they should dress the missionaries on temple square up in Disney character costumes!

If so, they should send more missionaries to Orlando...

Just sayin'.

I read an article referring to Monson's talk of the Harvard President's testimony of the BoM and how he achecived it at Oxford Univ on a Rhodes Scholarship....

While a FPS story for sure for some...it just PROVED to me that the BoM and mormonism truly is...FALSE
