My TBM brother-in-law said this to my DH the other night on the phone about TSCC members getting us to come back. I'm glad we don't live in the same state as him. Why does he act so sure of this? I can't stand the arrogance.

He also asked us right after we had our first DS, "How do you plan on raising your kids since you don't go to church?" What the hell kind of question is that? My DH said, "We'll raise them like any normal responsible parents would."

DH gave the perfect reply to BIL’s question about how you’d raise your children. As to BIL’s “Don’t worry, they’ll get you. They always do,” here’s my suggested reply for DH:

DH: “What I hear you saying is that it makes you very uncomfortable when someone else has a different belief system than yours.”

Because THAT’s what he is really saying, beneath the arrogance!

I love that. It is most likely true that it makes him uncomfortable.

I'm going to start looking under my bed every night! I don't want them to GET me.

"they always do"???? Not so fast. I still cling to that pesky belief of free agency.

Yes, they always get the inactive members back to church, except for the 70% that they don't.

Geez - that sounds like a line from a creepy B movie horror flick.

I took that comment of his to mean that he'll make sure that proxy baptisms will be done on all of you when you're dead, when you can't do anything about it.

If so, that's a little bit creepy. And more than just a little bit mean.

That was what I thought as well. Hotel California straight through into the afterlife.

"I know you'll know it is true in the next life."

I like what someone above said about they are uncomfortable with someone else believing something different than they do. I believe it actually scares them.

I know for this friend--she relied heavily on me for my "testimony" and the fact that I have lost beliefs--what does that mean for her? It puts a question in their mind.

If they stick around likeminded people, then they can all reassure each other.
