I just got back from SM and kept a count. I didn't include "in the name of JC amen" either.

First speaker-zero but ironically the youth was talking about rendering service

Second speaker- 5 times but only in the context of Christmas. Otherwise it was a f*****g rehash of a GC talk.

Third speaker - 8 times and it was in the context of forgiving and the Atonement. Quoted the BOM, a GC rehash quote from Richard "Snoozefest" Scott twice, D & C and even recommended for the ward to read Spencer Kimball's abomination "It's a Miracle TO BE Forgiven." BARF!!!! OMFG!! I bent my head down and did a quiet facepalm. >:-(

No scripture form the Bible at all. These two last speakers just moved into my ward from Utah, too with only three kids. It'll be interesting to see how they react to reality compared to the MorCor. One of the speakers mentioned how they were afraid that they would have to be driving 60 miles to the nearest ward! >:-( Hell, I'm less than two miles from my ward building!!!!!!!

In the Catholic and mainstream Protestant churches, the focus is on Jesus and his ministry.

The year is divided up into liturgical seasons corresponding with Jesus' life: Advent, Nativity (Christmas), Epiphany, Lent, Easter, and so on.

The first part of the usual Sunday service consists of readings from the scriptures, all selected to reflect on some aspect of Jesus' life or mission, and related to the liturgical season.

The hymns sung between the readings are generally chosen to fit that Sunday's theme, and the readings are followed by a sermon based (usually) on something mentioned in one of the readings.

The second part of the service is the reenactment of the Last Supper (the Eucharist or Communion), which of course is all about Jesus.

How Mormons can consider themselves Christian when Jesus isn't even mentioned in their services?? If they don't worship Jesus, what the hell DO they worship?

I have found this time and again in our ward. Told my TBM wife to keep count each week how many times the talks are about the Savior as opposed to alluding to Him only. I even had a talk with the SP which I told him I know more about the history of the church, JS, BY and other church details than really having a strong testimony specifically of the Savior. He said he sees the problem in the stake. That was 2 years ago and it has only gotten worse. How can anyone come and visit the church and not wonder where the Savior fits in it all!

I have thought about the lack of emphasis on Christ so many times over the years. It never changes--it doesn't matter who the SP or Bishop might be. Mormons are obsessed with obedience, works, prophets, temples, porn, coffee, etc. For the most part, these things take the emphasis away from the more important things of a Christian church--namely Christ and his grace.

Even on Christmas and Easter, there are often lessons in Sunday School, Priesthood, RS that do not even focus on Christ.
