I have recently 'joined' the ranks of those recovering from Mormonism, and have been curious to know how many you live outside the U.S..

I have been a member all my life up until, uhm.. yesterday, and am currently living with my wife in Italy.

Anyone else out there?

It's a big step, but you won't regret it.

To answer your question, I'm US born but live in Salzburg.

Living in Italy eh? Lucky, lucky you.

I'm an exmo living in the UK.

Australia, NZ, Canada, Europe (UK, Norway, Sweden, Germany, etc.)
Italy, are you US military by chance?

No, I'm not military, although I do live about 30 minutes from the U.S. base. My mother is Italian, and I frequently visited off and on while growing up. I met my wife here and we both felt better suited to live in Europe than Happy Valley.

I was simply querying to be able to associate countries to names- tis all.

We recently spent a week in Slovenia/Trieste, driving back through Venezia Giulia. Made the mistake of stopping in Gorizia on a Saturday afternoon, when nothing was open. We're toying with a trip somewhere in Northern Italy again during Christmas week.

Yes, Gorizia is not the most lively of cities...
I live in Udine.

Then you would know Gorizia alright. We skirted Udine on the motorway on our way home. It looks like an interesting place to visit.

Taiwan, Singapore, China... after twenty years, relocating back to the USA next week.

We're everywhere. That's why I wear my CTL ring (yes, even Hong Kong has TBMs, and just like anywhere, they're not quite sure what to make of it).

Canadian here. It's funny how I always dreamed of living in Salt Lake City some day. Not anymore though. I think working for the Church cured me of that thought pretty fast. I thought being amongst the Saints all the time would be good. Living right with your tribe. It's not good. LOL

There have been so few members, it's hard to meet other exmos. OK, we are so few all in all - nobody wants to admit they have ever been members in a cult.
So exmormon.org is very necessary for us too.

From having served a full-time mission in Italy and having seen the membership records of every branch I served in, I was shocked at the number of exmos or 'apostates' there are in each branch.

I have been wondering if there has ever been an attempt to widen the exmo support system to other countries in other languages...

I rarely post here, but when I do, I use another name. For the sake of anonymity I just don't want to match it to my nationality at the moment. I live in another European country now. I met the missionaries in the Padova Mission in the early 90's. It was fun back then, but now I wish I had never met them. Happy to see here somebody living in Italy!

This is off topic, but I have a question. Are there really enough active LDS in Italy to justify the new temple being built in Rome? What do you think?

Well, I would almost believe it... Considering all the big Latino TV channels that are aired from Miami... (I know only because my wife's Colombian and she loved watching them when we were stateside).

The Mormon cult is almost non-existent here.

Hawaii, where the cult is doing so-so, they'll prolly always have a presence here.

Few converts, but enough move-ins to keep the chapel full with three wards on Sunday.
