if a prophet of god can make a mistake while acting as a prophet of god, what good is he to me, unless I have been gifted with the ability to know when a true prophet is mistaken?

and if he were a true prophet he would not be mistaken

EXACTLY!

notice that when things change/evolve in Mormonism...

many people are 'left in the disconnect between Past & Present...

faith-beliefs-values, on the other hand, are Internal by nature!

Not to worry....even if the prophet is absolutely, 100% wrong.....you can rest assured that if you follow him in his error, it will be counted as righteousness to you! You see.....you can't lose either way!!

The only way to incure god's wrath is by NOT following the prophet....period.....get it?

Now start following the prophet, OK?!?!?!

That's what they told the people about following Hitler.

And I'm glad the OP started this thread because that was exactly my point with DH. Sometimes the prophet is speaking as a prophet of God - sometimes he's speaking as a man with his best understanding and is able to make mistakes. If you can't tell the difference between when he is in prophet-mode and fallible-man-mode, what the hell good is he?

DH had no answer for that.

The ONLY answer a TBM can give is "follow the prophet right or wrong and you'll be OK".

Ask your hubby if he would practice this advise with.....

...a contractor building his house
...and investment advisor managing his assets
...a doctor making a life or death diagnosis (or even not life/death)
...a car salesman
...a young man asking for his daughters hand in marriage
...almost anything you can think of

....the point being that a TBM will spout this nonsense for their prophet, but not consider it good advise for ANYTHING else in life.....cause that would just be stupid...right?
