I find it interesting that Joseph Smith doesn't have any recorded children. The evidence is certainly sparse. Many of his wives were married to other men so they could have easily covered up their pregnanies. But what about his other wives? According to Mormon author Todd Compton he most certainly engaged in sex with his many wives. Even Hyrum Smith admitted to Obortions being performed in Nauvoo. At first I doubted this sort of thing could have been happening but then again it's Smith we're talking about here. There seems to be some compelling accounts regarding this matter.

I think it's very probable that abortions happened, although he didn't have much success at first producing children with Emma either. But seriously, how can you have 33 wives and no provable children with them? And if he didn't have sex with them, he was without a doubt a fallen prophet because his own revelations say that the only reason for polygamy is to raise a righteous seed. So marrying girls without an intent to procreate is against God's laws, as revealed by Joseph Smith himself. It makes sense to me that he had illegal abortions performed just to hide his polygamy.

Maybe he only slept with his many wives once or twice, liking variety.
