I'm not sure that's a "money problem" so much as a general business reality - print advertising is way, way down.

Wait - whoa - what? I wrote for the Daily Universe, back in the day. How did I miss this thread? I know print is going the way of the dinosaurs but seriously, a college newspaper? That really is the wave of the future, since they are training tomorrow's journalists. Do you have a link about this?

Interesting to see the Daily Universe doing catch up to the Student Review for a change. 23 years ago, I did computer layout for the Student Review--the alternative to BYU's Daily Universe. At the time, it was weekly. I'm proud I was looking for alternatives even back then. Took me another 10(ish) years to finally see the light, but hey.
