I had an interesting experience with my mission. My dad was the Bishop, so nobody got to hear about my masturbation and porn addiction until I was in the field... and then the committee in SLC decided for me and sent me home. Just as well, I hated every f***ing minute.

That is sooo cool...and I imagine your Dad was NOT pleased??

I miss M*A*S*H! Klinger was hot. I did know one kid who tried to fake a drug overdose to get out of his mission. So sheltered was this TBM he really thought his moms diuretics could do the job. Very dumb kid. Sweet. But dumb. He got sent to South America.

My neighbor's son started skipping school, smoking, drinking when he turned sixteen.

He is now married and doing very well. He told him mom that the reason he started that behavior was because he knew he didn't want to go on a mission and that a simple 'no' wouldn't be accepted, so he set about to make himself unworthy.

All those thousands of hours on flight simulator didn't tell them that they wouldn't get too far? They couldn't have possibly believed they would get to take off in a plane to begin with. There are just too many frightening aspects to the psychology of these kids. Maybe it is time for big brother and precrime convictions. Well, if they go on missions now, I can tell you that everything will be just fine for them in the long run. ;)))

"Immodest earrings" refer to something showy. My TBM dad used to tell my TBM little sis who kept the law of chastity that she was a "slut" for wearing large hoop earrings. They were probably 2-3 inches at the most.

Oh my effin gee, that is the first thing on this forum that really blew me away. I wonder what he would have called me, I'm a guy who used to wear 2 or 3 earrings in one hole, one of them dangling down below my jaw. It was the 80s.
