I couldn't disagree more! It's fabulous little nuggets of "wisdom" like this that are making every semi-educated woman in the entire church cringe, possibly even some of the men. I hope to hear more from dear old Brother Packer in the near future because he is doing a great deal of damage every time he speaks. With the entire world watching and more TBM's digging deeper for their "foundation" such complete jackassery is truly invaluable. Like the commerical goes..."da da da da da - I'm Lovin' It!"

I really hope BKP outlives Monson.

Oh my heck.

I can't tell you how glad I am to be out of that patrarchial system, and that my daughter won't be in it either.

This sexist thinking still makes my life extremely difficult, despite the fact that I've left the cult, because I still have many TBM family members. I can't tell you how much it makes me angry. Combined with the continuing societal sexism, most days I feel like the entire universe is against me.

I replied to this on another thread, but I never felt more worthless than when I would go to releif society as a child-free woman, nor have I ever been treated more worthless. But according to Boyd I AM worthless. Awesome.

My daughter was approaching her 8th birthday. Our family of four was totally inactive, but my TBM parents were assuming that DD would be baptized. On a Saturday afternoon we went for a walk and stopped next to the local wardhouse. I told DD that the attitude of TSCC toward women is that they should stay at home, not have a career in the workplace, and they should just raise children. I asked her if that sounds like the life she wants for herself. She basically said "no way" and that was the end of any discussion of her being baptized. She made that decision by herself after I provided some factual input.

DD went on to get a BA from Evergreen State College and an MA from University of British Columbia. She is working at a job that is her dream job and is happy with her life. She would have been miserable if she had grown up to be a TBM.
