I often think that.

The sad thing is that just wanting to understand doesn't always work for me. I have to work hard at understanding what people actually think and frequently can't even come close to grasping WHY they think what they think. Still, if I understand WHAT they think I've at least got a shot at being tolerant and keeping my mouth shut on pointless arguments. :)
