Why didnt the LDS Prophets know about the Chinese discovering the American Continents?

The mormons claim or used to claim, the Indians were Jews who settled North America and became the Tribal Nations. Actually we've always known Asians were here first. Native American DNA is Asian.

According to Mark E. Peterson, they were made "Chinamen" and not born in America, because they were less valiant.
