Wasn't the Third Reich designed to last for a thousand years? It creeps me out a bit that they are using the same phrase.

"Taubman and church officials decline to divulge the cost of the development, which also includes offices, condominiums and apartments. But other developers estimate that such a mall, especially one with 5,000 parking spaces below ground, could cost about $600 to $800 a square foot to build. That would put the total price tag for the mall at $420 million to $560 million."

what about that 5 billion that... i forget which bigwig made the announcement but... there seems to be an extremely large disconnect between what developers estimate the cost at and what TSCC announced...

Wasn't he supposed to most likely come back between the years 2000, and 2050? I remember hearing that in church all the time. That just must be folklore now.

The Brethren are either bad business investors or perhaps they know something is coming...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tLTb4P1HD8

In the year 2525
If man is still alive
If woman can survive
They may find

In the year 3535
Ain't gonna need to tell the truth, tell no lies
Everything you think, do, or say
Is in the pill you took today

In the year 4545
Ain't gonna need your teeth, won't need your eyes
You won't find a thing to do
Nobody's gonna look at you

In the year 5555
Your arms are hanging limp at your sides
Your legs not nothing to do
Some machine is doing that for you

In the year 6565
Ain't gonna need no husband, won't need no wife
You'll pick your son, pick your daughter too
From the bottom of a long black tube

In the year 7510
If God's a-comin' he ought to make it by then
Maybe he'll look around himself and say
Guess it's time for the Judgement day

In the year 8510
God's gonna shake his mighty head
He'll either say I'm pleased where man has been
Or tear it down and start again

In the year 9595
I'm kinda wondering if man's gonna be alive
He's taken everything this old earth can give
And he ain't put back nothing

Now it's been 10,000 years
Man has cried a billion tears
For what he never knew
Now man's reign is through
But through the eternal night
The twinkling of starlight
So very far away
Maybe it's only yesterday

In the year 2525
If man is still alive
If woman can survive
They may find

In the year 3535
Ain't gonna need to tell the truth, tell no lies
Everything you think, do or say
Is in the pill you took today ....

But Mormons will argue that the mall will generate even more money that can be used for humanitarian aid.

There won't be any Second Coming.
OR
There won't be anywhere to shop except in SLC after the imminent Second Coming.

Okay three...
The brethren have relegated the tasks of spiritual guidance to the Bishops and FHE, while they as Lawyers,Business Admins, Communications and marketing experts do the important stuff.

Jesus will live at City Creek. Think of bow much they can charge to live in the same building as Jesus!

I like how Taubman said the exclusive stores would lure the "better" customers, as in richer customers = better customers.

Yeah, we sure wouldn't want people who are broke from paying their tithing on Gross coming in here and spoiling the atmosphere.

Awake and shake the dust from your robes, Latter Day Saints! Your church has abandoned you. The Living Water that the Lord will provide has not been diverted through the Mall of Mammon.

I wonder if they will make a movie about it like "the Mountain of the Lord." Maybe "the Mall of the Lord."

***

H. David Burton: The parking garage is going to cost more than we thought. The contractor is telling us we have to reinforce the building's foundation. There are some other items we didn't account for. That will bring the total project cost to $5 billion.

Thomas Monson: I want this mall to last through the century. We will tear open the bank account and begin again.

***

H. David Burton: And what was your employ in Scotland?

Guy with Bad Scottish Accent: Investment Banker at RBS

H. David Burton: Have a chair.

We could stop this.

All we have to do is mount an internet boycott of the stores which are lining up to participate in this shameful abuse of religious donations.

Footlocker
Macy's
Victoria's Secret

Start a Facebook Page called Mormons Serve Mammon. Ask believing Christians to stand up for the proper use of religious donations. Write to these businesses and ask that they not support a church who uses volunteers for employees IN THE MALL to compete with the business which employ members.

It is unAmerican, an abuse of the intent of the public policy allowing churches to use volunteers and to have tax-free status.

Time to draw the line.
