I think they are only speaking as a prophet if you are gullible enough to believe them. The rest of the time they are speaking as a man.

Yep. If they cannot do this, how can they or God expect any member to know how to recognize the spirit of truth? This is a simple request. And the same request the Mormon leaders ask of their own members--seek the spirit, recognize it and profess it.
