I once took an LDS Institute class just off the campus of what is today Weber State University. The teacher was one of the noted Yorgason brothers -- don't recall which.
I brought up the LDS "god-of-yer-own-planet" conceit.
His reply is that worthy Mormons will become "gods" in "worlds" that we terrestrial beings cannot fathom -- that they will organize, supervise and populate these "worlds," but that they are not necessarily "planets."
For example -- he thought that perhaps stars themselves might serve as such "worlds" -- or maybe some indescribable sub-divisions of the CK.
If members can't become gods through the help of Joseph Smith, then the Mormon church is not needed.
Save yourself the time and effort, not to mention the 10% tithes, and attend the more fun churches which offer community programs and support without pressure.
"The plan of exaltation"- becoming exalted as Gods and brood mares - which was always the brass ring center of the gospel, at some point got replaced with "the plan of happiness" which centers on families are forever (TM), being sealed to your family in the hereafter. This is one of those things I discovered after many years out of the church, this change in terminology and focus. In other words, this sweeping under the carpet of long standing and now embarrassing doctrine.
