today i got an email from her saying she hasn't gone to church for 8 months (i was like "what?"); she's happier than ever she tells me. she says she no longer believes in the church due to many (way too many) inconsistencies which lead her to believe it was the work of men, not god.

pretty dope huh!

the rest of the family is catholic so their reaction was not as joyous as mine.

You lucky effer! I wish I had this news!

Even if the great architect of the universe told me I would have to give up the biggest name in French rugby getting baptized I would make that trade.

Congrats to your family and descendants!

I do not get it, what is wrong with your family? Bummed about the car loads of candles they will have to burn now as thank you to all the real Saints for getting your mom out of the bizarro cult?

CONGRATULATIONS.

By the way, any idea who is a good saint against LDS?

there is a woman named Cora Evans. She is not a saint yet, but it is likely she will be one day. She is a mormon convert to Catholicism. I think she converted in the 30's. Google her name for more info.

Thanks Laluna. I heard about her from someone and had intended to google for more info but by the time I got home, I'd forgotten her name. (Must be Old-timers disease settling in)
I'm going to check that out.

Enjoy your new non mormon relationship with your mother. It changes everything. I never thought I'd sit and have a glass of wine with my kids.

Wow, I'm incredibly jealous. I just got of the phone with my mother who freaked out at me when I refuted her latest attempt to reconvert me through apologetics.

Congratulations anyway. It must be nice.

awesome. yeah, thanks for the good vibes.

i planted the seeds of doubt and let them grow patiently. miracles can happen. she'll be writing her official name removal letter within a few days.

i'd never EVER thought my mom would leave the cult. she was one of those ladies that would come early, greet people at the door, sit with investigators, feed the missionaries 3 times a week, clean the chapel, have 2-3 callings, and give pretty much her whole pension and time to the cult.

my dad is gone but i'm sure he would have been delighted with the news. everybody is catholic; i was a convert to mormonism who in turn converted my mom so you have no idea about the guilt and pressure i had to get her out.

everybody is free now.

thank you all again. i really mean that.
