I DON'T GET IT. Hinckley was the BUSINESSBLOWER

Another view:

Hinckley knew it was a scam, but immersed himself so fully in the business side when younger, that it tainted his doctrinal view as prophet. He was all about softening the image to sell the product wider.

He wasn't whistleblowing, he was reforming the product to sell even better.
