That is not a recessive. That is a gender-linked dominant. So, therefore, not a result of inbreeding. Maybe because it is sexier, they don't go to hair club. :)
It's a gene carried on the mother's side, if I remember correctly. Also, male baldness is related to high levels of testosterone converted to dihydrotestosterone.

Perhaps the baldness is a result of very poor nutrition during the mission years? When I was a student at BYU there were a lot of RMs who were going bald.
Bingo. I only started losing hair while I was on a poor diet. Once my diet changed, I stopped losing the hair. But that is only anecdotal. I know all of the scientific reasons behind this, which I won't elaborate.
Oh sorry. Should have mentioned that a good diet will only slow loss of hair. It can't eliminate it completely over the course of a lifetime if one is predisposed to losing it. But one losing half their hair in a couple years in their early 20s is definitely due to a poor diet.
