I spent so little time in the Morg compared to most of you, but I realized how damaging my time in the culture was after reading Gavin De Becker's "The Gift of Fear". I was constantly taught to put my trust in people who gave me the creeps (church leadership for one) and learned from that book how dangerous going against your gut can be. I was just reminded of that when I suggested the book to a friend tonight.

I am a little short on reading material recently. Anybody have any books that have really changed your life? I remember reading "The Giver" in Junior High and being blown away. That was my first experience with literature that had something of substance to say, and really instilled a love of reading.

So what about the rest of you? And I know some of you are writers yourselves, so please pimp your blogs or books if you feel so inclined.

Jack Canfield's book: Principles of Success (author of Chicken Soup for the Soul)

Peruse it in your bookstore before you buy... it might be fun. :D

I'd suggest two by Walter Kaufman: "Critique of Religion and Philosophy," and "The Faith of a Heretic." Unfortunately, I believe they're both out of print, but you can probably find used copies.

Well-written-and-clear-ly yrs,

These are old books, but I learned things from them that radically changed my thinking and my behavior.
