What do you think of it? I am on chapter 9...they had their first " fling"...she lost her virginity...

I had to put it down when he showed her his " playroom"..

I didn't like that...I don't want to read about " painful sex"

I don't want her to accept this guy's fetishes...

What do you all think of this book/author/subject matter?

I love the 'kinky f u c kery' aspect of the book.

Ana doesn't just mindlessly and submissively accept Mr Grey's sexuality, she asserts herself and her own ideas. This is a key subtext to the story.

However, if painful sex is something that you think is just painful (as opposed to painful/pleasurable) or just plain bad or immoral or something, I suggest you stop reading. Lots of spanking, cuffing, flogging, nipple-clamping, butt-plugging and animalistic @#$%-ing await. Is it hot in here or is it just me?!!

It is quite graphic though I've read "worse" but it is also very loving.

Really liked (not loved) these books. Read all 3. Learned some new ways to play. ;) Spaghetti Oh...yeah it's pretty hot!

Yes, Grey is quiet attentive to Ana...I will keep going...

IRL...orgasm is Painful/Pleasurable...I agree...it is so intense that it is both..

I will look for that subtext...thanks

I read the reviews on Amazon.com...people either love it or hate it..

Most are reading it because of the " hoopla"...there was a review from a 60 year old male ob/gyn...

Most of the negative reviews complain about the repetition of phrases...

and the unrealisticness of it all.

I would like to read erotica that I can see myself doing and then look forward to in real life..

Fifty Shades is disturbing...but that is what the positive reviewers like...disturbing yet addicting..

Mr. Grey has had child sexual abuse and that is why he needs this in his life..

I find it disturbing because in real life, a character like Mr. Grey would not exist..

One of my managers at work is starting the book after I told her about it. I never read it, but I was teasing her about reading it on her Nook. She didn't get the joke until I explained it, and now she went out and bought it.

This is the same woman who makes sexually inappropriate comments about my butt. She is my mother's age, else I would have taken her up on the offer.

Yuck. I will not read this book. It's a Twilight fan fiction for the love of milk and cookies. And there's some yeeky scene in it. ugh.

I've read all 3. I started reading it because it was a best seller without knowing anything about it. I was shocked when I first started reading it because it was so explicit and there are so many of those sex scenes. However, I also wanted to keep reading and didn't want to put it down because I wanted to see what happened. In the end, I think it's a good story.

I don't like pain, pure and simple. ANY kind of pain. Had enough in my life.
For those who like it, fine.
Enjoy.
It's not for me.
Too many other books for me to read!

I know someone personally just like Mr. Grey. Just sayin'.

I just started the first book and it reads ok. One thing that didn't quite ring true for me was how Mr Grey handles himself - he sounds (what he says and does) more like a 40 yr old guy than a 27 yr old one. Ana seems really naive but it's been YEARS since I was 22 (however, at 22 I had been in the military for a yr and already had a 2 yr old child and had been married for 3 yrs)

actually, I like how Ana describes her orgasms... That is a real erotic turn on for me...

And yes...Grey seems way older for his years and Ana way younger...

it is getting weirder and weirder...after having multiple orgasms with Mr. Grey...Ana is riding this wave of sex and now Mr. Grey's mother is involved..

EESH...

You people that are paying for this you are wasting your money, this damned book and its sequels have been available online for YEARS for nothing. And I am not talking piracy either. It originally started as a piece of fan fiction for Twilight.

I love the books. It's a fun indulgence, kinky, and hot. I can't put it down. If anything it's been purely entertaining and has given me a view of that sort of thing I most likely would never have gotten otherwise.

I got up to the part when Mr. Grey ( Sir) starts spanking Ana.

That was disturbing and too kinky to " wrap my mind around"..

So I went to the last chapter and read the end of the book.

I don't think it interests me anymore...

The book was good for the orgasms of Ana ( and me)...

But when Mr. Grey says he is " shades of f***ed up"...I had to agree and then made a judgement that the characters are just to unrealistic to hold my interest any longer..

Thanks for your input
