Crack open a bottle of champagne for me friends, I just took the first official step to breaking the chains I have known since birth.

I fell into a deep depression after coming to the angry realization that the mormon cult is a lie, but let me tell you something. I'm 26, and I have my whole life ahead of me. I am glad to be alive and awake to a new world now... one of truth over lies, self loving over self loathing, tolerance over bigotry. and critical thinking over blind faith. I may have lost my family to this cult and it still makes me very sad, but I am now more confident that I can slowly but surely piece my life back together and to further build upon and reinforce the happiness I am discovering now. I take comfort knowing that there are others out there who may understand what I have been through.

My name is Jason Alan Rougeau, and I AM AN EX MORMON!

I know that the church is not true, and that joseph smith was a fraud, a con man and a liar.

Toast with me friends, to new beginnings for all of us! To a positive mental attitude that the church doesn't want us to possess! You know they want us to be bitter, so raise your glass as we all remember the fact that THEY ARE THE ONES WHO ARE BITTER! THEY ARE THE LIARS AND DECEIVERS! So I propose a toast, TO A POSITIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE! Let's show these miserable fools that leaving the church was the best decision we ever made!

You are the very same age as I was when I realized the church was just man-made. I, too, lost my family because of my decision not to "go along" with the lie any more, and it took me some time to deal with that loss.

That was 55 years ago!

But life "after Mormonism" has been good, and you can look forward now to many years of productive, independent living!

Awesome!! Congrats to you! It may not always be an easy road - many of us still, though out and happy, flashback to earlier times and sometimes struggle with anger, frustration, and betrayal issues, but that's all part of the process. It's healthy to go through it, take it head-on, acknowledge it, and then move on. You have your life in front of you - grab it and run down the football field with it! :)
