If he's in McNaughton's painting, why? If not, why not? Discuss.

Nice. Jefferson's spinning in his grave along with the other deist and agnostic presidents and founding fathers.....
I wish they'd stop spreading the falsehood that The U.S. was founded as a christian nation.....

The artist says that the people behind Christ represent all of those who helped make the country great, and all of those in the frong (except the pregnant lady) have been leading the country away from the constitution and towards socialism. I don't think Joseph Smith fits into either category.

Im pretty sure he meant the pregnant lady, since, *gasp* she has no wedding ring!!!1! :O lol this painter is a joke

Yeah, except the artist says,
"Pregnant Woman

She is pointing at the mother with the child with a disability and is saying to herself, "I want to keep my baby." She represents hope. Abortion is a heavy subject, but this artist believes strongly in the rights of the unborn child... Except for the pregnant woman in the lower right corner, these people symbolize those who have pushed our country towards Socialism. (The pregnant woman's place in the painting is explained on the website.)"

Actually notice the people in front of Jesus --- the "bad guys" are on his left, and the "good guys" on his right. Jeesh. There is no symbolism at all in this painting as you state, McNaughton, this is propaganda.

"I am not painting an anthropological Jesus. Nobody would recognize him if I painted him that way." says McNaughton the artist. Hm. After all he supposedly did for this world, you can't even attempt to paint him like he really was? Oh, to be remembered as you never were...

My objection is that McNaughton calls this, "art work."

As always the "glory" of American history focuses more on male Anglocentrism and less on the indigenous people.

this "art" is so wrong on so many levels: historically for one as has already been pointed out.

Also what it is saying for me is "all these famous people in American history agree with ME, the artist, in the ideas my work promulgates." How presumptuous is that? Do the descendants and relatives of some of these people know that he has used the images of their loved ones this way? for instance Christa McAuliffe's?
Does he have their permission?

And, oh, yes, whole segments of society ( actors, supreme court judges, and those nasty lawyers) are on Satan's side. That makes sense.

A vomit bag should come with every copy

i'd insist that smith is the one dude counting the money. bottom right. the "lawyer" or "the prophet" in some circles.

it kinda looks like smith, acts like him, next to a married woman..yup. that's him!

I read through his explainations and he stated that he grouped several people together who were assassinated (or an attempt was made on their life). It looks to me that Joseph Smith is in the group, standing behind the kneeling Lincoln. Funny though, he never mentioned Joseph Smith when he mentioned other people.

The "rising generation"? Isn't that mormon phrase? I think the young boy represents the lds church, at least the restoration. A

Painting looks very caucasian to me. Where is Martin Luther King? There is an asian immigrant but no hispanics.

There is a Christian minister but no Catholic priest, hmmmm.

The artist does say that the painting represents his view, and we can see where he stands, clearly.
