Mormons and the state of Israel

I found this an interesting article interesting in the topic of Mormons and the state of Israel and Romney's recent visit to Israel. I think Israel is an example of where Romney's religious beleifs will be used to determine policy. Am I wrong here? I beleive this is on topic because it deals directly with religious beliefs of Mormonism.
