Something about this controversy over water rights smells like mormon business.

Deseret News covered the story in 2011.

Serial lying and exaggeration seems to be a hallmark of the proposed water project:

Does anyone know any of the players? Any connections to mormon-run businesses?

Thanks for posting this. I don't know if there is a mormon connection in this story, but water in the southwest is a fascinating topic and I will be following this one with great interest.

Slightly off topic to this, I am convinced that in the not too distant future, whoever has water/water rights in this region will be very powerful and hold in their hands the determination of what will become of the desert southwest.

My opinion, regarding future water management is to determine a methodology to force responsible use of water. To pour valuable water into artificial lakes, ponds, etc. where they have no business existing instead of using for crops and human consumption is nigh onto criminal. At this time, however, clearly whoever has the $$ makes the choices even if they are idiotic.

They do not have mormon connections. This is such a weak argument. You can do a little research online and find out who the players are, not that hard.
