I only used it once following some behavior from some missionaries that was inappropriate.

NOTICE:

I am under no obligation to:
avoid all loud laughter,
lightmindedness,
evil speaking of the lords anointed
or any other impure or unholy practice

Enter at you own risk
Rachel, My New Name

(Big Smiley Face here!)

I put it on the inside of the window in my door then I watched the Mormons that came to my door read it! It was priceless.

For those that have been to the temple, this statement is from The Law of the Gospel, one of the temple covenants. As the temple is so sacred it is not to be discussed, seeing this statement on a door can be quite a shock! And humorous.

Law of the Gospel: We are required to give unto you the Law of the Gospel as contained in the Holy Scriptures; to give unto you also a charge to avoid all lightmindedness, loud laughter, evil speaking of the Lord's anointed, the taking of the name of God in vain, and every other unholy and impure practice, and to cause you to receive these by covenant.

I resisted going to this extreme, but when nothing else worked and a couple of missionaries were demanding and rude, I decided they needed a clear boundary set!!

Generally I don't mind the missionaries. But these two were real pests!! (Long story!!)

Good one. Mine said, "NO TRESPASSING. This includes religious organizations." Even the Boy Scouts were scared.

Very good. Another way to get rid of the mishies is to keep a video camera by the door. When they show up start filming them. They won't stay for long.

As I read this, it made me wonder if the light mindedness, loud laughter, and evil speaking of the Lord's anointed bit is even in scripture.

Here is a thread of posts on the subject from some time ago. The ideas in the temple on this subject are interpreted from the Bible especially in the early 1800's.

Not everyone wants signs on their door and some of us don't want to see mormons in the driveway or on the porch where signs can't be read unless they're huge and unsightly.
