Me - I hate DST. I don't know why people vote for it.

Him - it saves energy.

Me - How? It's still light the same number of hours.

Him - I just know it does.

Me - Okay. But how?

Him - I pay the bills and I just know they're lower.

Me - How can that be?

Him - the power company changes their rates during DST.

Me - crickets. How do I argue with a bald faced lie?

I believe the argument for energy savings is that people use more energy when it is dark. DST shifts more of your waking hours to when the sun is up causing you to use less electricity in the dark.

I love DST. I like being able to come home after work and hang out in the back yard for a few hours while its still light. DST gives me an extra hour to do that.

Yes, I understand your arguement, but my point is, he didn't make that arguement. He had nothing to back up his claims and when pressed, he spouted a lie. This is why we find it such a huge waste of time to discuss anything with TBM's. His wife and my co-worker (another woman) were both participating in the discussion and took my side. He stated, "My opinion is the only one that matters because I pay the bills." But what I heard was, "Because I hold the priesthood." His wife would try to talk and he would hold up his hand and say, "Now, wait." It was sickening to see how she submitted to his authority.

Bad logic is as bad logic does.

Yeah sure, we change our clocks and the sun follows our lead by radiating a different amount of heat.
