Well I had been trying to get my sisters to watch a movie with me and my mom finally let us

And then with half an hour left she turns it off for the weekly dose of propaganda

They are teaching a lesson about how its better to be led then to make mistakes on your own

Using an example of a horse with blinders

I guess the propaganda is more important than doing something enjoyable as siblings

It just pisses me off so much and there is nothing I can do about it

Batman, which is totally acceptable for my family

I was hoping you'd say "The Princess Bride." lol

My TBM family had full access cable with all of the premium channels and a HUGE collection of movies. I always felt guilty watching even PG-13 movies with them. Any time there was a love scene I just wanted to curl up and die because I just KNEW they were judging me.

I hope you were able to finish your movie :)

Well I can watch it whenever, but family home evening lasts forever and my younger siblings had to go to bed

I wasn't pissed so much because I didn't get to ginish

Just that they think fmh is more important

That's so sad because Batman is such a great moral role model, much better than a horse.

About the horse+blinders as a model. Is this serious? If so, wow, that's unsettling that this is the kind of person held up as a paragon. Good for you that you're resisting!

I'm sure others have told you this, but it will get SO MUCH better when you are able to leave. I left my parents' house for college at 18 and never looked back.

I love the batman trilogy, some of my favorite movies

And yah its serious, I'm not sure where it was being referenced from as I simply overheard a bit of it while I was doing better things with my time

As for leaving, I have a test date scheduled with the canadian forces reserves

It depends which trilogy you're referring to. The movies starring Michael Keaton/Val Kilmer or the ones starring Christian Bale

Why couldn't you just tell your parents the truth? Your life is not a sitcom. You don't have to lie or deceive or hide the truth. You always have a choice. "Mom and Dad. I do not believe in the LDS Church or its doctrines. I do not wish to participate in any Church-related activities. Are you willing to support me in this decision?"

They know, I have told them

They have been unsupportive

Horse with blinders!!! As a role model for a human being!?!?!?

That is frightening and sick. I am sad your mother thinks that way and I am so glad that you don't.

Write this stuff down though. This is good stuff for a novel, remember the details. If you don't want to use it, I will.
