Someday, maybe when I move out of Utah County, I won't be so acutely aware of when general conference is. But in the meantime, I tend to come back to this board every six months just so I can be reminded that not everyone is going gaga over the general authorities today. Good to see everyone again and I'll see you again in October, if not sooner. ;)

By the way, coming up on seven years since I sent in my resignation and not feeling itchy about it at all! :)

Tomato Monsoon: temples in Cedar City Utah ad Rio di Janiero, Brazil.

Cedar City??? Big enough for a temple? My convert daugher lived there....I visited once....seemed small to me.

Cedar city is small and is 30-45 minutes from St. George temple. A waste of money if you ask me.

They need some place to spend those billions.

May as well build another mall.

Probably a "blessing" for someone well connected in the building industry.

"It's not that I don't appreciate the business, Tom, but my employees live here in Utah and will hate to move to Kentucky."

"OK, we'll build here in Utah. Let's look at a map and see if there are any towns left in Utah without a temple."

Cedar City has a college and the Shakespeare Festival. The temple will likely rival a fast food restaurant in size.

Can't miss a PR moment can we? I bet this temple will be fast tracked for the summer 2016 Olympics.Take in the games and do a session or two. Great vacation for TBM. Keeps the money coming in.The Church sure knows how to cash in on an event, don't they?

They haven't prophesied about anything since Brigham Young died. They consider administration changes like moving ward boundaries to be prophesy.

Is it just me, or does anybody want to scratch their fingers on a chalkboard, chew tinfoil and shoot themselves rather than listen to a TBM female speak in conference?

FYI - I am NOT female bashing, there just seems to be this tone to women who speak in GC. At least to me. Please, somebody out there tell me it's not just me.

Yeah, but then I'd rather chew razor blades than listen to the men, too.

Amen. My TBM niece calls it "Relief Society Voice". Meek and humble and full of syrup and gaaaaaaaag.

My TBM wife can't stand the Women speakers because of that "voice" that they put on.

which is the same as the 182nd LDS General CONference which was the same as the 181st General CONference which was the same as the 180th General CONference etc etc etc

The only difference recently being 'Don't Look On The Internet'!

I can hear it faintly in the other room as DW sits raptly listening. I think I'll got for a ride or shopping and listen to my R. G. Ingersoll speeches.

Waiting for a woman to say the prayer...
Will it really happen?

... I'm waiting for SOMEONE to say SOMETHING/ANYTHING truly New & Significant in the everyday lives of the Rank-and-File members; the ones who:

-Fight to keep their jobs

-scrub toilets, other sacrifices for the Corp.

-Resist thinking about anything more meaningfull than tattoos & earrings.

- Crave 'even just a touch' of accountability/responsibility in return for their donations...

-TIRED of the shopworn, trite, & banal sayings 'from the top'

Oh Well

Yup M Russell Ballard has again reiterated only dicks and balls can exercise the priesthood. Big whoop.

what is with every one of these speakers crying like bitches (No offense to any of you bitches out there).

seriously, this eyring guy can barely get through his speech without blubbering like a fool about being forgiven or loved or something (I'm not listening to close).

And what's with the female speaker telling a long story about her privilege of sweeping the auditorium while it was being built? these people are odd

Can you believe some of us Morons didn't pick up on this decades ago? We're kinda slow.

Eyring cries at the drop of a hat.

Yeah, well, same as all the rest of the crap.

I found it to be a big BFD moment.

Give the women something real, not a token pat on the head.

Eyring: "... children who wandered despite their parent's sacrifice for the Lord..."

Guilt trips for the children, combined with persecution complex for the parents. That's some toxic stuff.

Haven't watched for years. Nothing has changed I see as I watch now. Still the same boring droning tone that leads one's mind to wander and think how uninspiring, unrehearsed, and untrue. I wonder why they use teleprompters? They only do this twice a year. How come they need this tool? Our pastor delivers his message each week without even a note. It's amusing, inspiring, moving, and instructing. What, these guys our prophets? Yet people post these messages ob their Facebook pages as if it's some new prophetic utterance. Blah!

It's always good to come back and check--just to make sure nobody has gone wacko and ordered a resumption of blood atonement. One can never be too safe. :)

If they did bring back BA, I'm sure Elder Eyring would give a moving, weepy testimony about its virtues.

Do you have to be mormon royalty to be in the choir?.. or does being in it make you mormon royalty?
