Enough of the essays in the subject lines.

There have been at least two chronic offenders -- you know who you are Steve and Been There -- and now a third is beginning to to the same.

I don't care how fascinating your topic is: it doesn't merit a full sentence in the sub. Certainly not more.

I think it's fun to reply to paragraph-length subject lines with "+1" in the text body.

Where the subject line is a total bullshit question like:

"Does D&C 92:13 confirm that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of god?"

And then just have the body of the post say:

"No. It does not."

I prefer to know what I'm spending my time to click on. The ones that have short, two or three word subject lines that don't really explain the content, then turn out to be uninteresting just waste my time.

The ones that really bug me are the ones that are spoofs but don't make that clear in the subject line. If you are writing a comedic piece, I'd like to know that because a lot of time I'll be checking RfM between projects and only have a couple of minutes. So if I'm in the mood for a laugh, I'll know which ones to look at and if I'm not, I won't spend time on ones that aren't serious.

I know! "C'mon people" wasn't very descriptive. If I had known what the topic was, I wouldn't have clicked.

So I don't click on them. Saves a huge amount of time!

Though shoehorning an extra line of text into the sub line beyond what the software normally allows does grate. Especially when
every
Single
Sub
Line
Is 3 lines long.

Too clever by half.

I don't click on the topics with the really long sub lines. I'm already put off. When I do, it inevitably feels like deja vu all over again.

So that people CAN'T over use the subline.

Sublines should be like skirts. Long enough to get the job done but short enough to leave something to the imagination :)

Holy fuck, I'm so goddamn immodest in my threads.

Does this imply that short subject lines like "fast food" are really sexy and immodest?

Same song went right through my mind. Man, we're getting old.

I'm still singing it in my head. The 60's had some of the best music so I don't mind

I'm with ya...very memorable tunes and lyrics. Powerful decade.

What's this got to do with subject lines? Oh yeah, we are easily distracted therefore subject lines should be neither too long nor too short. And three shall be the counting and only three. Five is right out!

Is this a Monty Python skit or a real post?

Very funny! I'm with you: I'm stuck in the Sixties.

I think it's ironic that after years of people bitching about RfM's software, it's going to change because of this problem.

I love that song! Indigo Girls did a great version of it, too.
