I'd like to thank Satan Claus for pointing out that we neglected the bass guitar in our thread about Guitar Gods that you would have liked to hear in church. http://exmormon.org/phorum/read.php?2,868872 Similarly, we neglected the upright bass and stringed instruments in general.

Flea and Bela Fleck, yo.

I was remiss and unintentionally exclusionary, and I apologize.

So, what musician/group would you like to hear play in church?

("There can only be one," m'kay? I haven't chosen mine yet.)

Yes, VultureTamernotloggedin. Mayer, douchtastic as he is, plays not too badly. ;-)

fakemoroni, shoot me an email?

Take it away...

I love woodwinds. I wish I knew how to play the oboe.

I'd like a good drummer too, would really liven things up. There's so many to choose from. How about Ginger Baker or Alex Gonzalez (look him up on youtube he's amazing)

LOL- my bass teacher plays for his church. He played some of their set for me, and before I really thought about it, I blurted out that if they played music like that at the church I grew up in, I'd probably still be going.

Maybe I need to work on tact? LOL.

So is this still for in the church? If so, it would have to be George C and the Parliment of Funk. How kick ass would that service be? Diapers, flashlights, pogo-ing, UFOs....

I won't say what will be used for the sacrament, but glow sticks and pacifiers would seem to be the next logical evolution of the service.

I saw it in Philly -- who's the new conductor? He's amazing. Q&A afterwards? Wow.

ETA: I think Dr. Demento played the Shaving Cream song.

it doesn't exactly lend itself to the symphonic. the new Music Director is Yannick Nezet-Seguin. Haven't been this season yet, leg doesn't like the seating at the Kimmel Center.
