This is not the MIT officer, Sean Collier, who sadly is still gone from mortality. You can leave well wishes for him and his agency here. http://www.odmp.org/officer/21777-patrol-officer-sean-collier

However, the MBTA officer, Richard Donohue had been shot, had lost all his blood, and his heart had stopped beating, when he was resuscitated, proving that a strong will to live, immediate CPR treatment, and prompt medical attention does more then raising your hand to the square and wishing allowed really hard, because Richard Donohue had been as dead as you could get for a few minutes there.

My only regret is that not everyone who lost their life last week could have had the same life saving miracle, but I am sure medicine saved the lives of a bunch more.

And after religion tried so hard to kill all of those people in the name of its invisible sky wizard.

As time goes by, we'll keep pushing back the length of time
that a person can be "dead" and yet still be revived.

Even at a distance from modern medical facilities, a "dead"
body can be handled so as to minimize the amount of oxygen
depletion in the brain. And, if the body can be transported
to a place with good doctors and equipment, such revival will
more and more "normal" in coming years.

This actually happened to my own father -- who was pronounced
dead on an operating table, had all life support removed and
was at the doorway of the hospital morgue before somebody
noticed faint signs of respiration. Net time "dead": 25 minutes.

I expect that in the near future, it will not be uncommon for
doctors to revive a person who has shown no life signs for
and hour and 25 minutes, or two hours and 25 minutes, or more.

Nothing particularly wonderful about all of that -- except for
the patient, family and friends. It's becoming commonplace.
