:( The poor kids. It reminds me of the joke about the man waiting for God to save him from a flood. Well, maybe God wanted to heal your kids via medicine!
It does make an interesting point, though, of where a parent's right to raise and care for their kids according to their own beliefs ends and where the child's rights begin. Parents can refuse medical treatment for their children, can't they?
This reminds me of an instance I heard about several years ago in Ohio. A girl was stabbed in the face by her brother, with a screwdriver. By the time she was rushed by neighbors to the local emergency room she had lost one eye and a great deal of blood.
The father then showed up on the scene and demanded that he remove hs daughter from the hospital, for religious reasons -- no treatment -- no blood transfusions. While this argument was going on, the girl died.
Had the same father been accused of spanking his kids, Family Services coud have taken them away. But refusing life-saving medical care was somehow within the scope of his rights as a parent.
