Does anyone think any media outlets would be interested in proving the dodo wrong in respect of LDS shunning? Probably could fit in well if the BBC ever did a follow up of their programme.
The Jeffrey Holland interview with Mr. Sweeney is bittersweet for me. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity to catch an Apostle off-guard and to expose to corporate dishonesty of the "Church" and its leaders. The bitter part is that unfortunately I expect that behind the PR doors of Mormonism the result is going to be similar to what you'd expect from after a successful break-in to a high security facility, ie, more security. In other words, it will be that much more difficult to get these kinds of opportunities in the future.
I think if that were the case then the fall out would've happened with GBH's famous "I don't know that we teach that, I don't know that we emphasise it..."
But I agree they'll be more circumspect about their approach.
The church is highly gaffephobic. The brethren don't interview unless it's rigged propaganda. I don't think Holland or any other mormon authority will be risking an interview with a real reporter.
