There are SO many dangerous areas of the country in which ward/stake buildings are located. Ex. There is a building in Los Angeles that has a chain-link fence surrounding the parking lot and the members were asked to not linger in the parking lot after services because they are not safe there.

There is a ward building in Texas that has tall shrubs surrounding the lawn area prior to entering the chapel. The shrubs were initially planted as a one-foot-tall boarder around the flower beds but grew seriously taller. I told a BP there that this was not safe and suggested that the landscaping be redone. The project was never undertaken.

The local ward building is such a stink bomb between the bacterial-infested jute walls to the bathrooms with only God know what is growing and multiplying there, anyone given a tour would just cringe.

Between the safety factors and the dirt and grime, what makes the MO church feel this recent revelation (was it a revelation or was he just speaking as a man?) would be enticing for membership growth is beyond my imagination.

However, I have been garnering some pertinent questions should I be given a tour:

Why does it smell so badly in your church? Don't you have janitorial service?

Many churches in America are simply open: so that people may go in and pray - NOT for tours. LDS chapels are nothing. One should see great cathedrals in our city! The best is always open and you don't neet to be escorted. Even in Nauvoo, I just walked into the open Catholic Church with nice stained glass windows. But an LDS chapel? Around here they are away from the people and no-one even notices them, to say nothing of anything there which would interest anyone.

So, two teenagers, alone in an empty Church that has computer equipment in it. How long before the first robbery by people posing as investigators?
How long before the first sexual assault on a female missionary?

Try robbery by actual members.

Oh no... members have to help them!
Didn't you hear?

They will be writing out schedules next so that there is always a member chaperone present with the missionaries. They can do the cleaning at the same time!

*grin*

How long before missionaries become the janitors?

Actually this could be far worse.

LDS computer systems with security that can be bypassed by anyone with an afternoon and google.

The local LDS family history computers will be the new hotspot for perverts and identity thieves.

I guess this new policy will become big news.
