To know that while the TBMs wait for their shipment of t-shirts to show up so they can volunteer while wearing the brand, the City of Calgary put out a twitter call for 700 volunteers... And 7,000 showed up. The city had to send a followup tweet that they were over capacity, no more volunteers at the cleanup site please.

To understand Mormons did not provide charitable labor because their branded T-shirts were not available.

Please tell me there is something that there is an article or a picture, maybe a blog that discusses this non-event of charity.

Well then, how many local volunteers and displaced citizens were fed by the Relief Society sisters in the cultural halls of the local LDS churches? I'm keen to know.

Well, let me put it this way:

The ward announcements let us know that the stake had ordered 1000 Mormon Helping Hands shirts, and to stand by to be told where and how to help. There was more emphasis on the fact that the church was getting ready to extract PR value than on the actual helping.

Now, one ward gathered food and supplies for a nearby town, and managed three pickup loads on short notice. Another initiative was to create hygiene kits, that resulted in 550 kits.

That said, those are individual levels, not stake level.

Oh, and the first part of how to help, was to pay a generous fast offering. Other posts on this board show that the church sends 100m+ worth of member money to BYU, and yet the members are supposed to donate their time, their money, their goods to the relief effort. It takes a lot of nerve to sit on a giant pile of money and ask the members to donate more.
