speaking of small-town church buildings ... if you ever visit the black forest ... st. blasien has only 3.899 inhabitants and look at their nice 'little' church building ;-) ...

Hi German Lurker, I'm not german just my husband and we live in the southern United States. We are planning to visit Germany in the next year or so. Thank you for all the site you have posted I have them saved for reading and listening, loved the organist. Just sitting in the cathedrals,with our eyes closed listening to all the sounds,echoes, and smells of candle and insense is very spiritual for me. I feel safe there. Thank again. Starry aka Brenda

What part of Germany did your husband's family come from? I'm from South Germany.

They were from Northern Germany, close to Hamburg, they were fishermen on the North Sea....it's after midnight for you, get some sleep. Nite!

My best friend and her family live near Hamburg - unfortunately for me (living in the south of Germany), so we can only phone and mail. They are ex-mos, too.

I know Heidelberg only from day trips and one sightseeing tour, a long time ago.
I'm from the south-west area. Black Forest, and there especially the 'Hochschwarzwald' is my favorite region, I love nature and I was born there (Heimatgefühle ;-) ) Nowadays I live near Stuttgart, which is quite nice but by far not as lovely as Freiburg and the Black Forest ...
