well...... after starting out by forging an Americanized version of the bible

after forging a text supposedly composed by Abraham....

Old Story... Blame Dummar, Not the Mormons...

Hughes used Mormons as part of his "inner circle" because he saw them as trustworthy. The worst you can say about them is the enabled his eccentric lifestyle (one billion dollars back then was a lot more than it is today) which including addiction to prescription drugs, etc.

The will was apparently left at the LDS Office headquarters by Dummar's wife, and church authorities rightly turned it over to the authorities.

Ol' Melvin is still trying to peddle this one' there's even been a film made about his story...

Read Noah Dietrich's book on Howard. He mentioned the Mormon attraction that Hughes had as he felt they were trustworthy and hard working. Dietrich wasn't all that enamored with them.
