In continuation of the above, I believe that sexually (as in all aspects of life) it becomes too easy to categorize people and behaviors. Sexuality is SO complex no one person is the same as another and people dramatically change over time. This my point is: you just gotta love people, and find things you value in them and EMBRACE them for who they are (the opposite of hate.) Everyone EVERYONE of your friends has a dirty sex kink they probably don't want to share. Maybe your kid turns out gay...TSCC says that you should turn away those whose personal behaviors you do not agree with. We've since found out that turning people away doesn't work- just makes you a hateful bastard.

We will forever have these sex talks because every new generation will have to learn about sexuality; young gay men and women - most all born to a father and mother - will have to go through those very difficult years of discovery and will have to work really hard to feel and be fully accepted in American/western society. We need to find a solution to categorizing people; am I 1% gay because I like porn with a wiener in it?

Lets turn it back onto TSCC since that's what RfM is for: blame centuries of garbage religion for twisting up humans ability to behave as humans without fear of judgment or worse.

The combinations are really completely crazy. There are people who fall in love with cars or buildings and people who get off on shame.

You are right that everyone has some secret desire. This is why religion tries so hard to keep sexuality in a box. Setting (very boring) rules is a sure fire way to induce guilt in virtually every one.

To be a good Mormon, You must be heterosexual, indulge only in marriage and never with yourself. You must feel at least mildly guilty about seeing any imagery that provokes lust. Until recently, oral sex was completely out of the question and any position besides missionary was "Unnatural". And living like this must satisfy you.

This thread made me remember a Sheri S. Tepper novel I read in the 1990's: "Grass". It was at first mildly shocking to me, but then very interesting to read about a sexual encounter involving a decidedly *very* non human, sentient, intelligent alien.

Totally consensual. No anal probes there or anything. And it was surprisingly arousing, as well as touching.

The fact that we're able to imagine and write creatively about having sexual relationships with imaginary aliens not of our species (whether or not it will result in any hybrid offspring) is enough for me to believe that human sexuality and sexual behaviors is a pool in which the deep end will probably always continue to extend just slightly beyond our grasp.

No pun intended.
