Someone at church referenced a talk he gave chastising people for checking their religion at the door during a recent BYU basketball game in SLC.

Trying to find the talk because he tells the audience his examples don't hit as close to home as porn problems would.

What a dodo!

It was a CES fireside so it wasn't specifically directed at any town. I think he was at Utah State for the address and it was broadcast around the world. Some friends were raving about how amazing the talk was so I looked it up and listened to it. It is just the same old stuff about how the world is going to hell and we have to keep our high standards. Anyone remember the "just makes me want to throw up" speech? kept a little vague for quiz purposes.

You'd think he'd be more concerned about people "checking their religion" by checking their email and facebook pages during SM.

during Gospel Essentials, Relief Society, Sacrament Meeting, AND the branch's broadcast of his Fireside.

It always makes me giggle how excited people get over these talks. Sure, they contain nuggets of wisdom here and there. But my grandpa was more eloquent and inspiring when he was going senile and reaming my @$$ out for confusing me with my Aunt Bonnie.

The Mos have created a wonderful fantasy world for themselves. It's especially interesting when Elder Holland starts discussing fake history and fictitious people as though it's all real.

Can you imagine the implications if this guy was a prophet, seer or revelator?

I just can't watch a speech from that podium. they all seem so contrived and phony..

I don't know what's behind Holland's desk in the BBC interview, but it looks like an old chrome coffee percolator!

I endured about 2 minutes of that utter drivel. I could actually see with my spiritual eyes, excrement splattering from that liar's mouth.

I saw right through him. He knows what he spews is garbage but he's got a job to do. He's like a big tobacco rep defending cigarettes. I see he is suffering mentally. Good.
