I've always been one to support the neighbor kids and Nieces and Nephews with fund raisers etc. However, I have not made any real cash contributions since my last tithing check over 8 years ago. Having been burned on the colossal scale fraud of Mormonism put me off of all charities for quite a long time.

Today I donated again. Just because the Mormon Church is a money grubbing cult does not change the fact that there are real needs in the community. Today I helped. It wasn't much but I'll bet my small donation does more than and entire years worth of my tithing did before.

It feels good to donate, to actually try to help others, not out of obligation. Nice one.

My method of helping is to donate only to the end recipient.
If someone needs groceries I will take them to the store, make sure they buy what they say they need and then I will pay for it. Same with gas or anything else.
I do not support the purchase of drugs or alcohol.

This wasn't a hand out to a a guy on the street - although I've done that a time or two. This is a monthly payroll deduction. I specified the Battered Women's Shelter as the recipient.

We had a long standing mantra: charity begins at home!

Anything else is up for grabs!

It's nice to know we can give of our time or money or make other contributions that are of help to others.
